15 oz can
of chick peas
1 medium onion (chopped)
1 small tomato (chopped)
1 teaspoon garlic paste
1 teaspoon chana powder
(alternate: curry powder)
½ teaspoon lemon
juice
½ teaspoon black
pepper
1 green chilli
1 teaspoon ghee
or butter
Salt to taste
Preparation

Heat ghee on
medium heat in pan.Sauté onions
until light golden brown.

Add garlic,
pepper, chilli and chana powder. Stir
for few minutes.

Add chickpeas,
salt, lemon juice and tomato.

Simmer for 8-10 minutes
on low heat.

Serve hot with rice or
roti.

Canned chickpeas are used to
make a quick chana masala. If
canned chickpeas are not available
or inferior in quality, soak
chickpeas for at least 24 hours
or boil half hour for quick
results.
