| 2 | Put whole 
                                          milk, half and half, sugar and carrots 
                                          in a heavy saucepan. | 
                                       
                                        | 3 | Boil until 
                                          it is thick. Remember to stir continuously 
                                          once it thickens. | 
                                       
                                        | 4 | Add ghee, elaichi 
                                          (cardamom) and saffron. Stir on low 
                                          heat untill ghee oozes out of halwa. | 
                                       
                                        | 5 | Serve hot, decorated with 
                                          a chopped almond or pista. |
